Introduction

First off, Hi! I'm Bonnie and I like a lot of things. I like to do a lot of things. I actually can't not do lots of things. Idle hands and all. I really don't like sitting still. If I'm watching a movie with my hubs, you better believe I'm ALSO doing a puzzle or painting rocks or coloring. Because, like I said, I just can't sit still. Dustin (my husband) says it's because I don't know how to relax. Which is true-- I really don't. Or rather, I don't really get anything out of relaxing. I climb into a hot bubble bath, close my eyes, and immediately begin pondering the MILLION things I could be doing at that moment outside of the bathtub.

We have two wonderful little kiddos, aged 4 and almost 3. No, we didn't wait long between them. Yes, it was on purpose. Our daughters are super smart and super interested in what mommy and daddy are doing all the time. And unfortunately, we don't always set the best example. Sometimes we play a little too many video games (Animal Crossing *cough*) or stare at our phones a little too long. Sooooo, Dustin and I are on a mission to spend less time on our phones and more time doing activities sans screens. Hopefully this will help with our screen addiction and introduce our girls to other options.

On a side note, we uprooted our little family in June 2019 and moved to Idaho, where we knew literally no one, and have yet to make very many friends. It's hard to get out when you have two toddlers and no babysitter. Therefore, we also have a side goal of making friends (which is difficult when people are social distancing or not leaving their homes). Fun times. Thanks, COVID-19.

2020 WORKS IN PROGRESS:

1. I joined the local library's annual reading challenge this year. The goal is to read 50 books in 50 weeks from 50 categories. The challenge's inaugural year was last year (2019). So... Of course... I did what I always do and I upped the difficulty. I decided I would complete both the 2019 challenge and the 2020 challenge this year, in 2020. It is May 31st as I write this, and I have completed 58 books with 3 more started. Side note... I also joined a local book club and then started a virtual book club (via Zoom meeting) with a friend. Because, why not? Reading is fun!

2. I joined a puzzle trading group. Because puzzles! Back before the COVID thing, I took my grandmother, who lives with us, to the Senior Center in Caldwell for the Friday evening dances. She loves to dance and enjoys the attention. The dances last several hours and I get to spend the entire evening doing puzzles, with only occasional interruptions by older gentlemen trying to convince me to dance with them. We recently found out that our girls quite enjoy puzzles themselves, and so, we've also been encouraging more of this activity.

3. While dealing with some health issues back in November/December, my physical therapist suggested that I needed to start exercising. Dustin is amazingly supportive, so he does the workout routines with me. The girls join us on nights that allow (bedtime routine didn't take too long, for example). We started out doing half an hour 5 days/week for several months, but we're down to 4 days/week now, with rest days on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Though we do take the girls out for a walk, a bike ride, or some other outdoor activity on both weekend days. This has been quite a challenge for me, but I'm proud of how far I've come. And the 20 pounds I've lost since January don't hurt.

4. When we moved to the Boise metro, my daughters began finding awesome painted rocks around, mostly in parks. Upon further research, I was swept away by the kindness rocks movement. Since then, I have hid over 100 painted rocks around town, I've helped teach a rock painting class to a 4-H group, and I'm currently working on some rocks for charity. My girls also love to paint rocks, so it's a nice little hobby that we can all do together.

5.  In an effort to play more games from our massive board game collection, Dustin and I have decided to start another challenge. An "A-Z" board game challenge. We will begin playing 2-player friendly games from our collection, starting at A and working through the letters and reviewing them.

These are just some of the things I plan to write about in this blog. Not super exciting, I know, but I hope there's something in here somewhere that someone finds interesting!
